MTN Nigeria Foundation Science & Technology Scholarship scheme

The MTN Nigeria Foundation will provide financial support to 500 eligible Science & Technology students in accredited education public universities, polytechnics and colleges of education across the six geo-political zones in Nigeria which will cover tuition, book allowance and stipend (pocket allowance). The scholarship award is N200,000.00 (Two hundred Thousand Naira only per student per academic session and will be paid at the beginning of the 2009/2010 academic session. The scholarships will be awarded to 200 level/2nd year full time students in universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
The scholarships may be renewable provided recipients maintain a minimum CGPA of 3,5 or its equivalent (second class upper/upper credit.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The MTN Foundation seeks to attract high calibre full time students into the science and technology sector. The scholarship is intended to provide assistance to those students who might otherwise be unable to fulfill their educational financial obligations and to reward and recognize superior academic performance.
GEOGRAPHICAL COVERAGE
Scholarship will be made available to qualified and successful candidates from every state of the Federation including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Electronic Engineering / 11. Engineering Physics / 12. Industrial Mathematics / 13. Industrial Physics / 14. Information Technology / 15. Mathematics / 16. Mechanical Engineering / 17. Medicine / 18. Physics Electronics / 19. Physics Engineering / 20. Physics/Computational Modeling / 21. Pure / Applied Physics / 22. Statistics and Computer Science
ELIGIBILITY
Candidates must be full time undergraduates in 200 level / 2nd year in public universities, colleges of education as well as polytechnics in Nigeria.
Applicants from universities and colleges of education must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score of 3.5 or its equivalent (2.1), while applicants from polytechnics must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (upper credit)
and currently undergoing industrial training.

Closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, October 30th, 2009.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to come with the original and photocopy of the following documents for screening prior to taking the assessment Test:

Valid student identity card

Duly signed transcript from head of department
*
Admission letter from JAMB and Institution
*
A letter of recommendation, duly signed and stamped from Faculty Head/Director of School/Dean of School.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Interested eligible students are required to visit the MTN Foundation Scholarship website at: (www.mtnonline.com/mtnfscholarship) and register online on or before the due date of Friday, October 30th, 2009.
Incomplete applications will be disregarded and cancelled
Upon receipt of applications from interested students, MTNF shall evaluate and shortlist qualifying students who will be subsequently invited for an assessment exercise.
Names of successful candidates will be published in National dailies and on the MTN Foundation Scholarship website
Bursaries will be allocated on a yet to be announced date to successful candidates, students are however advised to visit the MTN Foundation Scholarship website for more information.

That is a day’s journey from from here. Besides, I will not be through with my documents by today because we are getting our transcripts and letters of recommendation from our dean by tomorrow. So, I dont know if I would be able to make it to Kaduna before saturday morning.
