Shark Bites Off Surfer’s Fingers In Australia

An unlucky surfer had part of his hand bitten off while he was in the water near the town of Port Macquarie in Australia, reports have said.

Radio New Zealand reports; The 29-year-old was surfing when he was attacked by what is believed to be a bull shark on Friday morning.

An Ambulance Service spokesperson, Michelle Hoctor, said the man was bitten on his right hand and leg, and had lost an index finger and a knuckle.

Nearby patrolled beaches were closed as a precaution, but a Surf Life Saving spokesperson, Donna Wishart, says shark attacks in the area are uncommon.
