FG to post NYSC members to rural areas from next year.

Alhaji Bolaji Abdullai, the Minister of Youth Development has directed that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) should post NYSC members to rural areas only from next year.

He also added that there should be no provision for redeployment.

The Minister revealed this at the budged defence session with the House of Reps committee on youth development saying that “Corpers would no longer be posted to banks and other organizations where they are always being rejected.”

He also proposed to the committee a N3 billion for Youth Empowerment Programme (YEP) in 2012 saying that the Youth Empowerment Programme (YEP) was designed to train 250,000 Nigerian youths in the first year with the capacity to enlarge the figure to one million by the end of 2013. According to him, the programme would be executed with the collaboration of the private sector adding that the pilot programme would begin with the selection of 1000 youths from each state of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory for training in different vocations.

  1. Why wil they just post corp members to rural areas?has those in govt lived or living there or thier children n wards?can they afford thier own to live there?are our corpers not in the bush enough without even access to reach their loved ones, some are even killed in a strang village?let their children lead a just have a week in a village, and then call others to join, pls leave the corpers alone and allow to be happy they are serving our countrz and always leave even more room for REDEPLOYMENT

  2. youth empowerment is a welcome programme at least that will be corper’s own share of the subsidy removal but wait a minute, must they be posted to villages before they can be empowered. I gues the minister will ve to reverse his statement, because there alot of hostile villages in the country that hadly tolerate foriegners.
