Aregbesola Bans Chieftaincy Titles For State Public Officials

Rauf Aregbesola

In what has become culture in this part of the world where chieftaincy or honorary titles are indiscriminately bestowed on political office holders or appointees, the governor of Osun state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has moved to restore sanity in the process by banning serving state public officials and political appointees from receiving any form of chieftaincy or honorary titles.

This directive was contained in a circular directive to all “EXCO members & Other Political Appointees,” dated 14th December.

The Circular advices political functionaries interested in chieftaincy or honorary titles to defer same until they leave public office.
